Looking for Torsion Suspension Trailer

Does anyone know of a trailer with torsion suspension instead of leaf's and has a bathroom, queen bed, air and is 1/2 ton towable? I don't want a Air Stream but rather something more reasonable in price. Thanks

My Flagstaff v-lite fits that description. Torsion axles a queen that slides out for a big bedroom it has a bunkhouse and a full bathroom. It's gvw is 8600 and tongue weight is about 1100 the way I load it. So depending on the half ton you should be fine, just not with mine. I had an ecodiesel and it was really struggling in the mountains up around Stroudsburg pa, but the equivalent hemi would have been fine. Not towing with a halfer any more though.Click image for larger version

Have a look at Rockwood Trailers. They use torsion axles and are a very nice trailer that can be towed with a 1/2 ton.

Research Jayco and R-Pod, both with Dexter Torflex axles.

We bought a 2019 Solaire 202RB 22 ft. Made by Palomino. It has a FULL size queen, a real full sized rear bath, 3980 lbs empty weight (we pull at about 4400 lbs) with a 2006 F-150 5.4 V-8. It does well. We do have a weight transfer hitch.

Make sure of the queen size in other TTs. Most have the short RV queen. We bought an after market full size home queen mattress. I like it better that the king we have at home.

It has a full aluminum framework (not wood but the base frame is steel), torsion axles (2), 40 gallons gray, black and fresh. 15.5 btu A/C, great furnace, surround sound from the stereo, long electric awning, outside propane connection, outside shower, electric and gas water heater, dual automatic refridge. Lots of other nice stuff.

We added bigger propane tanks and changed to 2 6 volt golf cart batteries. I also changed out the battery charger to a Xantrex 40 amp charger. That was the best mod I've ever made on a trailer.

If it sounds like we like it you're right! If you shop around you can find it for less than 19K

Back around 2008 we had a Surveyor with those specs. Towed it with several midsize SUVs and truck. The torsion suspension does make a huge difference in ride and handling, and keeps the floor low. I'd never want a leaf sprung trailer again.

Take a look at the micro minnie winnie series. The 2106 has either a walk around queen or hideaway Murphy and has an awesome shower. I slide dining area. 3700 lbs dry.

Unless you want slides, you are making a mistake ignoring the Airstream. They are available used and hold their resale value after the initial depreciation. The towability is great, the acceptability is stellar and the rebuildability and upgrade potential pays back when you sell. There are issues with respect to how the plywood floor degrades from leaks and they are not 4 season solutions.

But whatever you choose, use it and enjoy it.

Not sure why you want a torsion axle - had them on a 99 Trail Lite and hated them. The trailer bounced all over the place and the cabinets always got shuffled. Next TT had leaf springs and shocks - was rock steady. Current unit has leaf springs, Mor Ryde CRE3000 equalizer, shocks and rides like a dream as well.

I have also seen photos of the inside of one of those axles were the rubber turned to mush after a couple of years.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Many factors that determine the way a trailer goes down the road. Then you have the right suspension for its application. No, you won’t see torsion axels on heavy, tall trailers with a high center of gravity. But on trailers that have a lower center of gravity they are the best option. Even horse trailers are now using them.
Never heard of torsion axels only lasting a couple of years. There again maybe they were used for the wrong application. But I know of Lance trailers that have over 60k miles on their axels that are still running smoothly.
