making something easy hard

I bought a King Quest direct tv satellite and want to know how to hook up the power injector. Some places I have checked says I don't need it other places say I do. I have hooked up coaxle from the satellite to the satellite jack on the side of my TT however the Quest manual says to hook up power injector and power supply inside and then connect to receiver. I am scratching my head how do I do this? HELP!!!!
