The memory foam will be heavier than an equal-sized coil spring. But the memory foam was more comfortable for us (YMMV). Be sure to get the memory foam that has the gel in it if you are going to be staying in hot climates -- the non-gel memory foam mattresses will sleep warmer at night. /ken

Ditto on the gel memory foam. We bought a 4" gel foam topper for our "premium" rv mattress. It was good and "firm". The topper made it much, much better and I like the cooler sleeping with the gel foam. We also just bought a new Casper mattress for home and it is awesome. It's not cheap, $950 for a king, but they offer 100 night try out and free pick up and return shipping if you don't like it. We love it. The achy back is much better in the morning and sleeping better at night as is the DW. They only make one mattress in different sizes and I don't think they make the short version for RV's.

I would go innerspring mattress if you are heavier. We seem to round off the edges on memory foam mattresses just by getting in and out and sitting on the edge of the bed to put on shoes etc.

I put a Serta three inch memory foam topper from Big Lots on the firm RV mattress and it is great.

Be sure to take a look at the spa sensations six inch memory foam topper at Walmart. After trying a lot of different ones I have found this to be very comfrey and affordable
