This weekend is our first opportunity to babysit our 16 mo- old grandson so our daughter can travel to visit our other daughter. The TT is in the driveway and clean waiting for the end of the school year so momma and I can head off for a week until summer school starts.

Memorial Day weekend...

And I'm thinking of my dad and stepdad (both soldiers of the 34th US Army infantry Division "Red Bulls" during WWII), Alden 'Bud' Ingalls a friend who was at Pearl alongside the USS Arizona on Dec 7th, and a number of schoolmates (Johnny Nunn, Vern Johnson, Bobby Rogne, et al) who didn't come back alive from Nam...

RIP those who didn't get back...

My apologies for going off-topic here. But Memorial Day has always had a special meaning to me. The Red Bulls 34th Infantry set the record for consecutive front line combat duty days that still stands today. Had a hard time as a kid understanding why both my dad and stepdad had "problems", but as an adult grew to understand the "whys". As a result, I never use this weekend to celebrate...but instead spend some time reflecting and mourning those who sacrificed their lives, or a "normal" life, in serving our wonderful Democracy...

No disrespect to those who enjoy the holiday...just sharing a personal perspective...

Peace, brothers and sisters...Long May It Wave...!!!
