Modern Weight Distribution & Sway Control ????

It's been too many years for me to think that things haven't changed a lot in the area of weight distribution and sway control for travel trailers. Can anyone give me a bit of a starter on modern considerations for both subjects?

Hi, Mike

I'm sure you'll get lots of recommendations for specific brands of hitches, etc., but if you're looking to develop a better understanding of trailer stability and sway cause/effect...
I'm learning a LOT from a thread I started about weight distribution.
My original question was specifically about tandem axles, but the principles being discussed apply to all towing.
Lots of folks that know their stuff have "weighed in" () with information.
I've learned more about Applied Physics there than I EVER picked up in school!
You might want to take a look:http://www.irv2.com/forums/f45/dual-...ht-103379.html

Hope this helps!

Hi Mike...
Look into the Equalizer brand of trailer hitches. I have a 600/6000 unit and the design does both the weight distribution and the anti sway control. It is by far the easiest one I have owned to hook up and adjust. No chains to mess with hooking up to the trailer with only sliding the torsion bars on the load plates and pinning them in. Here is the link for the website... Equal-i-zer® Hitch - The “American Original” with 4-Point Sway Control™ and Weight Distribution
I bought my present one used for $250 and it works great! I sanded it a bit and repainted it to make it look a bit better.

Top of the line and expensive is the Hensley Arrow.

Then the Pull-rite

Then the tried and proven Reese Dual Cam Straitline HP

Then there is Propride

Equal-i-zer

and the rest of them.

But to tell better what will fit your needs, we need to know about your truck and trailer.
