Murphy Bed and Bunk Bed Combo - Help Finding!!

I am looking for a travel trailer for a family of 4. I haven't towed before, so I am trying to stay toward the shorter end of the spectrum, like 25' or below. For this size, I am thinking that bunk beds (kids want them) would be great. Also, bc of space, it seems that a murphy bed would be ideal, as it would also double as a couch when not sleeping. Optimally, there would be a slide to give a little more room inside. That said, this combo of size and features does not give a ton of options.

I have found the following three:

KZ E191BH (no murphy bed)
Forest River Wildwood X-Lite 230BHXL
Keystone Passport Ultra Lite 239ML (no slide)

I would love to hear from others on features or considerations that I am not thinking of. For instance, the max cargo capacity on the KZ is 767 lbs. Seems low compared to others, but would I really need any more?

I am new to RV'ing, so any input you have would be helpful. I have very little grasp on the quality differences between various manufacturers, so that would be helpful as well.

I appreciate it!

We are looking at Jayco 23MRB but you might think about the 24MBH

It looks really nice, but at 29'+, I think it is a little longer than I would like. Esp since I have pretty much no experience towing.

If you have the truck for it I would go would go with something like a 26bh, 26' camper with an overall length of just shy of 30' if you can pull 25' you can pull a 30'. That would open up a ton of options for you.

Has everything you mentioned. Aval. Murphy bed, slide, Bunks, 25' 8" total length.

Share with us what your tow vehicle is and its payload. Payload info is found on the B pillar sticker located by opening the drivers door and located on the Tire and loading sticker. Also if it has a factory tow package.

On this example the payload is 1652 lbs.

Generally, Lance Trailers are at the upper end of the quality scale and priced accordingly.

Here is a pre owned one : https://www.rvtrader.com/listing/201...185-5001009821

My family of 4 have been looking for a very similar type of travel trailer. The ones we looked at very closely were:

Keystone RV Bullet Crossfire 2070BH (~23' long with skinny "twin" bunks. Very light weight. Queen murphy bed folds in 3 when stowed)

Coleman Light LX 1925BH (very similar to the Bullet Crossfire 2070BH.)

Keystone RV Bullet Crossfire 2200BH (~25' long with wider "double" bunks. Very light weight. Queen murphy bed folds in 3 when stowed)

Keystone Passport Express 239ML (very similar to the Bullet Crossfire 2200BH.)

Forest River RV Salem Cruise Lite 201BHXL (~23' long, heavier than the other 23 footers. Has a 1 piece queen murphy vs. a mattress that folds in 3)

We have decided against a slide for simplicity, weight reasons but these are some interesting examples with slides that combined features of the non-slide ones I mentioned:

Coleman Light LX 2155BH

KZ Escape E231BH

Sonic SN220VBH

Rockwood Mini Lite 2509S

I think we are gong to end up dropping down to an even more compact trailer (~21') in the end though, primarily for lighter weight, and ease of storage. Finalists are looking like the Dutchmen Kodiak Cub 175BH and Coleman Lantern LT 17FQ.

Let me know if you have any questions about any of these, we have been doing a lot of research.

Good luck!

That Lance 2185 is a really nice trailer too, definitely add it to the list to check out if it fits your weight and price requirements.

Not sure where you are located, but if you are in the west look at Nash or Outdoors RV either the Blackrock23bks or the Creekside 21dbs ORV | Black Rock 23BKS Northwood | Nash 25C

Murphy bed

We have the Jayco 23 MRB and it is a few inches shorter than the 24 you we’re thinking of. We had never had a travel trailer and found this trailer to be very easy to tow. We love the Murphy bed as it allows us to have a spacious living area with a sofa and the dinnette while keeping the trailer small. One bit of advice the Murphy bed means you have to go to bed and get up at the same time. The privacy curtain can help some but really you are sleeping in the living space.

A big disadvantage to a murphy bed in some units is that you lose both your front pass-thru storage compartment plus your under queen bed storage. For me that would be a deal killer as a small TT already has little storage. You will be amazed at how much stuff you will want to take with you when go camping, especially with kids. The more storage the better!

Grand Design Imagine will have a new model in April (supposedly) that has bunks, murphy bed, pass-thru storage, and is less than 25'. This is all I can find on it as it's not on their website yet. https://www.rvt.com/Grand-Design-Ima...938716-UX14262

Where ever you buy, make it part of the deal that they teach you or pay someone to teach you how to back-up the trailer and also ride shotgun with you while you take an hour or two drive, with the trailer hooked up, on both country roads and the interstate.

The Lance would get my vote although that Grand Design would be worth at least a look.
