My Theory Confirmed ! Power awning

Ever since we purchased our new TT with a power awning, it's nice to retract quickly, but as far as function, i would rather have the old manual one, far more adjustable. At first i thought one of the piston struts was defective, because one side was stronger than the other, and would push back up more than the other when trying to drop the awning as low as possible. My thought after thinking on it for a year now,and planning to replace it, i readi the awning was suppose to have a self dumping feature, maybe that is why one strut is weaker than the other ?

While packing up in the rain yesterday, and having to retreat under the awning when the rain picked up, sure enough, as soon as the rain really picked up, the weak side dropped down and the rain just poured off that corner. I pushed it back up and as so as i released it, it dropped again.

So glad i didn't try to fix that weak strut !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were camping several years ago with friends that had one of those awnings. We parked so our awnings overlapped, she was sitting out under their awning when it started to rain, hard. Well, it dumped the water right on her!

Thanks Old-Biscut

Read that !!!! But i knew that, but says nothing about one struct being weaker the the other to accomplish the self bailing. I'm just one of those guys that like to understand how something works, not that is just does ( or suppose too )
