Yep, if they get the 6.4L diesel right, these trucks will really raise the bar.

After losing millions of dollars and many, many loyal Ford owners on the 6.0, Ford needs a big hit with the 6.4 liter such as they had with the pre 2002 7.3 liter diesels.

I don't see any "red line" on the Tach. I seriously doubt that you could crank that diesel up to 5,000 RPM safely.

I also find it interesting (and disappointing) that the much fanfared, PowerScope mirrors, are available as an option only on the FX4 and Lariat trim levels.

Shame on you, Ford, for depriving those not wanting to spend all their money for a truck from an essential option for safer trailer towing. Again, industry has put the GAD (God Almighty Dollar) ahead of safety and common sense!

they dropped the redlines on tachs years ago, the ecm pretty much is in control. so to speak it wont turn 5k unless its a manual and your downshifting to blow her up.
ours backs off at 4100.
any way
i bet the standards and options change considerably. they are looking to see what folks want now and make up packages of popular options. they did it in 02 and 05 so i wouldnt think they wont do it again.
i wouldnt be surprised that if you get the trailer towing package that the the powerscopes will be in there as well as the intergrated brake controller and a few other niceties.

oh, sorry if i offened anyone by posting a link to the upcoming trucks. It was meant purely for information.

Yeah, Bob. But the earliest you can buy an '08 SD will be January so don't expect to see one when I see you in Bedford this weekend.

...Let's see... October to January... That's three months... $60,000 divided by three... I guess that means I have to save $20,000 a month to have enough money to pay for it... I'll see what I can do. I'll have to ask my son for a raise.

Frank-
Look at it this way, how much did your son cost you & Chris raising him? I'm sure $60,000 is a drop in the bucket compared to that. Just explain to him it's his return on your investment.

There is an article in the Nov/Dec issue of Truck Trend magazine about the new Ford F-450. Very nice truck. They also had some sneak peak photos of the soon to be released Chevy and GMC 3500. Another nice looking truck, but no details on them yet.
