New member from Colorado- Time to learn

Hi Guys

New to site.....

Well I am 53 wife is 56. I owned a teardrop camper for about 2 years but did not do a lot of camping so I sold it a few months ago. Now we have started to look at TT. I have been looking at the KZ spree, Coachmen and trailmanor. Price wise the KZ and Coachmen would be in range. We saw a couple and really like them... Plus not to expensive ... The Trailmanor are somewhat pricey but nice. Just saw a couple yesterday but we would have to buy used as the KZ and Coachmen we can buy new. We are looking at 14-17 ft.. My TV would be a 07 Kia Sorento LX 4x4 rated to tow 5,000 lbs.
I am trying to keep my towing weight at 3,500.

Now after doing some research I find fuel wise the trailmanor would do better then the others... I am seeing a lot of people getting 9-10 MPG yikes but I have to say most don't mind as they enjoy traveling.

I plan to retire in 7-10 years so it be nice to have a TT paid off so I can use during the Colorado Winters and head to AZ, Florida anywhere where its warm.

I would appreciate any advice.

Glad to have you here with us. Not having owned a TT I can't give you much assistance. I'm sure others will.

At the top of the page is a tab for RV forums. In it you will find a travel trailer section. If you pose the question there you may get more responses.

Best of luck with your search. Happy Trails!!

Hi, from Co. Too. I can guess where your looking at KZ's, kettleson? Good folks to work with. We are readying our KZ15 ft, and take of tomorrow. We have no complaints about the unit.
Good luck.

Welcome!! Ascend by Evergreen has some units that meet your 3,500lbs. Your tow vehicle really limits you.

Be aware that not many people keep the same RV for 7 to 10 years. Have fun.

Trailmanors are nice trailers. When opened up they are very spacious and, they are a breeze to tow. They also have a great forum of their own that I found very helpful when we owned one. TrailManor Owner's Forum - Powered by vBulletin

But they also have limitations: the toilet is a recycling or cassette type, there are no upper cabinets other than an optional one that has to be lifted in place each time, and the folding torsion bars can get out of adjustment over time. Also I wouldn't call them 4-season or off-road trailers.

I might suggest you include used Travel Trailers in your search. This will save you a lot! There are plenty of lightly used (often like new) Travel Trailers out there.
Quite often first time buyers trade up for something bigger in their first year or decide the RV life is not for them. Try Craig's List in your search. Dealer's lots are loaded with used units. Enjoy you adventure!
Happy Camping!
