I've seen Outback trailers partially torn apart, and they're probably built "well enough" to begin with. The problems start when there is a lack of proper maintenance.

I was visiting my daughter a few months ago and we were out looking at travel trailers (she and her husband are looking) and at at least one brand of TT had stickers on their new TTs to check the sealant every 90 days, which I found interesting.

CYA move on the part of the manufacturer. Our new Forest River had similar warnings.

Still plugging along. Had a bad sinus infection for two weeks and it slowed down the progress.

Got a lot done today. I got the diamond plate on and it really looks good. Started on the closet and installed the water heater. I think I’ll be done with the outside if I have a good day tomorrow. Only thing I’ll have left to do outside is paint. I’m going to do that over the winter. I’m ready to camp. Forecast says low 70’s during the day and 50’s at night.

The pictures don’t do the diamond plate justice. It looks really good.

Did you have a buddy that can help with the finish work? Again, there is a nack getting the joints right.

Finish carpenters know how to cut inside joints.

The diamond plate does look good. Better than factory!!!

Good job[emoji106]

I don’t know anyone that trims houses. I don’t have a lot to do thankfully.

Your project is looking great. The diamond plate is a really nice touch.
I know just how much work delamination repair is as I'm right in the middle of some major delamination repair on a vintage Class A motorhome myself. I tore a good section down to the frame. I used West System epoxy to re-laminate the filon to the substrate.

I knew going in that I was buying some serious water damage. There are so many coaches that people unload for pennies on the dollar because they get a quote to repair the delamination and are floored by the expense. I got an older coach for very cheap so I could learn the process of repair. I intend to buy some newer coaches with delamination issues, do the repairs, and then sell.

I know that wasn't your intention, but I really appreciate the fact that you tore into it and decided to go for it. You're going to have a travel trailer that is far better constructed than the factory. Great job!

If you want to get an idea of what I am doing with my project, here's the link:

Appreciate all the comments along the way. In the end it was worth it. A lot of work for sure.

Now I get to spend the week trout fishing with my bride on our tenth anniversary.

I still encourage anyone considering a project like this .... Don’t [emoji23].

Two minute walk from our site for the fish.

And it’s raining so we’ll get to check for leaks. I’ll be shocked if it leaks. I bet I have 12 tubes of lap sealant and also resealed doors and windows.

Side note, if you haven’t been to the little red river at Heber Springs AR you’re missing out. JFK campground.
