New to the road

We pick up our new travel trailer next weekend and are going shopping this weekend for a new pick up to do the pulling.....can't wait to hit the road! We are going to be travelling with several dogs (4) and I am wondering if you veterans of the road keep your pets in the pickup or do they ride in the trailer while going from one point to another. Any words of wisdom? Thanks

In the truck. Walk around in the trailer while your wife is driving and you'll see why.

Hi and welcome to the forum! Congrats on your new rig and upcoming adventures.

We travel with three dogs but don't have a travel trailer so I can't say first hand. However, I'm guessing the vast majority of our members don't have their dogs travel in the trailer. Many (like ours) have their own dedicated travel spots with us and that's a big part of the fun.

Best of luck.

We travel with 2 dogs a large lab and a Weiner dog and they ride with us. It would be too scary to imagine them in there bumping around or something falling on them during the trip. The last trip we had two drawers fall out of cabinets which could have hurt them and I would say it would really scare them not knowing what was going on. Perhaps you could put a topper on your truck if space in cab is an issue?
