I'm trying to picture a WD setup on a fifth wheel hitch - nothing comes to mind though. I'm wondering if he was hawking one of the air suspension hitches now on the market? While they may be nice, tey are hardly "required", although they can certainly be a bandaid for a poorly matched and setup combination.

Alan, the VR-1 is a travel trailer, not a 5er. So it does require a WD hitch. As for "special", the one I saw would use a std WD hitch.
