Newbie here, looking for advice

Hi everyone, I am new to the camper world and thinking of pulling the trigger on a 2016 Forest River Heritage Glen 272RL. I am looking for any advice on what to look for, what to pay close attention to and what to ask about before signing the papers. I've never owned a camper before, so knowing any "tricks of the trade" on things to check/look/ask for would help!

Thanks everyone.

Well first thing.........

Make sure your tow vehicle can handle towing a 9500# (+) trailer with a tongue weight of 1200#

That is what the GVWR of that 272RL is and what loaded tongue weight would be close to
What is your tow vehicle?

As for NEW trailer purchase..........just looking it over for style, floorplan, usability, fit/finish. Until paper work in process you are not going to get to check out functionality of systems except for cursory checks.

floor plan.. can you and the better half pass each other without someone falling on the floor.. that was the problem with my first trailer..

wife was cooking.. I passed her. she bumped into the stove.. she was NOT happy.

the KEY is the tow vehicle.. have extra carrying and towing capacity.

and the dealer reputation is very important.. warranty is everything.. and you Need to deal with THAT dealer for warranty work. and you will.

when you buy.. at the walk-thru.. take lots of time. Check every part and piece of the trailer. any questions or problems have it written on paper and given to Service Manager.. before you move it..

and NEVER do this on a weekend.. no one available to fix anything. and very busy trying to sale more trailers.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Tow vehicle is good, I've got a 2005 Cummins 2500. Plenty of towing experience as I was in the horse business hauling all over. I'm dealing with Holman motors in Batavia Ohio. Pretty reputable dealer. Hopefully this process goes smoothly and they will let me check as much as I can. Thanks everyone.
