Newbie needs help looking for a floorplan

We have looked at several floorplans and fell in love with the 2010 Sprinter 311BHS floor plan. It seems like the perfect set up for a big family (that we're building, another is on the way) and something we won't soon out grow. Keystone seems to have 4 brands with the same floorplan from what we found. We also saw a Jayco 324BHDS from 2009 to 2010 with a very similar plan. Are there any other TT's that have a similar layout? Pro's and Con's of the different Brands? What are the important features to focus on for the longterm use? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Joe

Well I did a little more looking and it appears that several brands do make a similar floor plan to the Sprinter 311BHS. Now I'll have to get down to the nitty gritty of what brand and what features are important.

Sprinter makes the Sprinter Select (less features and less available options) and the standard Sprinter, more features and more available options, both are decent, they are entry level fiberglass models, Jayco is nice also, the Jay Flight g2 is about the same level as the standard sprinter but not fiberglass, the Jayco Eagle is fiberglass and is very nice. theres some great deals on ebay on the sprinter, heres a link to an ad that on presently:

Thanks for the link. I'm going to watch that one and see what it goes for. When you say fiberglass trailer are you referring to the smooth sided trailers? The others appear more like a corrogated siding look?

If you are looking at trailers and like Jaycos, Im a fan. They are without a doubt the very best RV company to deal with. If you buy a jayco you will not be sorry.

Thanks Paul. I've heard good thinks about Jayco. Seems to have very loyal supporters of the Brand. We are just getting started in our search but they are certainly on the radar. My wife really wants the outside Kitchen deal found on the Sprinter 311BHS and I think the Jayco Eagle has something like that too.

i have a copper canyon 298FWBHS

almost the exact same floorplan as the one u posted. ours is a 5er but floorplan is the same. it works great for us, we love it. its great for kids and what the 2010 has that mine does not is the out door kitchen thing and a bunk over the tv in the bunkhouse. better use of space i think vs mine. mine has out side storage where u have the out door kitchen

Thanks for the post Tex. What are your likes and dislikes of the floor plan? We think that exterior Kitchen would be used quite often. Any quality issues you've experienced? Have you had any issues with carpet or linoleum wearing prematurely?

all flooring is fine

the little plastic things that hold the rails in place on the sliding drawers, have broken on 3 drawers

this is just me but some of the fit and finish is not perfect, like some of the screws in at more of an angle than straight in. again thats just me wanting everything perfect.

the out side storage has a lot of wasted space, but that has been fixed with the model u r looking at. mine is just storage the full height of the camper. i cant think of anything u would ever take that would be that tall.

new one has the out side kitchen and the bunk above the tv in the bunk which is exactly what i would have done if i could change mine.

i am having a problem with one tire, the door/pass side rear has worn all the way to the chords on the inside. other 3 tires still look almost new with lots of tread. so ill have to look into that and see if its a axle or wheel problem.

the bathroom having its own door to the out side is great, lots of room in the kitchen/living room and very comfy, u shaped dinet is great, storage every where

i dont know if its just mine or what but u cant run the ac and the microwave at the same time. trips the breaker every time. 30AMP one,

we were at the coast this week and one nite a SEVERE thunderstorm came threw. winds in excess of 70 MPH and Forrest Gump type rain. the camper was rockin and slide outs moving but no leaks and no damage.

007, I'm adding that link to my favorites, thanks. What is the difference between the smooth sided trailers and the ones that appear corrogated?

Tex - I'm with you on the little things, especially with cabinets. In another life I used to build them with my father. There is only one way to do it, the right way! Do you have a shower door or shower curtain? Odd about the breaker, doesn't sound right. Do you have the 13.5K AC or 15K AC?

I'm sure you'll check your axles for something bent or binding, sounds like a weird issue. We had a similar issue with a 24' enclosed delivery trailer I used to tow around. We made lots of trips with it and always wore out one tire faster than the others. We looked at everything and finally the guy at the tire store asked where we parked it. The spot we placed it in was tight and required a pretty tight turn into the spot while backing it in everytime. We were basically grating that tire along the concrete everytime. Solved the issue by pulling in a different way so that I had a more gentle arc. We used this trailer daily so it was a little easier to notice changes. Let me know what you find out.

Are awnings over the slides worth the expense?

Joe

shower has a curtain, 15K AC

slide toppers if ur out alot in areas where stuff would be falling on the slides. pine needles, leafs stuff like that. would help w rain also i guess.

the smooth sides are fiberglass with gel coat the other is aluminium and if u get caught in just one hail storm your now pulling a trailer that looks like a golf ball.

In Florida, we always have stuff falling out of the trees, including racoons. Thanks for clearing up the siding issue. Think I like the Fiberglass look myself, never got into golf

Can you go on your roof and sit there with folding chairs? Like at a race or anything? I see people do this alot but it seems like a bad idea for the life of the roofing material?

Thanks again for all of the responses.

Joe
