Nomad Joey Quality question
Hi,
I'm new to tt world. Just bought the Joey (196)and have had a few issues with basic trim and finish (loose door moulding, broken snap, front door holder, fastener on pull around bed privacy screen, etc.). It makes me worry about overall quality. Anyone have good/bad experience with Nomad as a manufacturer? Any web sites/other forums I could look at? The dealers also carry Sunnybrook. If I brought the Joey back (have only used once) any thoughts on Sunnybrook (part of Winnebago now).

Howdy and welcome to the forum. I'm not familiar with the Nomad TTs, but I can tell you that most new RVs have their share of irritating problems at first. Hopefully you can get all sorted out and enjoy your new RV. When you say "if I brought the Joey back...", do you mean to return for exchange? I'm not sure most dealers would do that without the buyer taking a substantial hit on the trade in unit. Good luck to you.

I have a Layton Joey 204 built by Skyline, which I think is the same company that build your Joey. I have a few issues also, but I think all RV's have some problems. I've been traveling since May and will be back home next month. I'll take it in then to fix the problems. All in all my Joey is build very well, considering what you get for your money. Let the dealer fix the problems and hopefully you will be happy.

I looked at the Skyline Koala but found loose hinges, loose trim, wood cut rough, sharp edges on bed frame. I passed on the Skyline Koala.

Sunnybrook - before Winnebago bought them I saw something like a Consumer Reoprts rating. Sunnybrook was maybe the least troublesome of all the trailers. After Winnebago bought them all bets are off. Typically when one company buys another the bean counters take over. Bean counters like to cut corners and maximized profit.

Same here. We looked at a Koala and passed. Seemed a little thrown together.

I bought new in 2011 Nomad Joey 196 and so far the only thing i had to fix was trim around the bathroom door however that may have been because i kicked it off by accident. My decals are starting to peel off now. It still seems alot better built than my jayco popup I use to own.

We have a Nomad Joey 260 and just completed a 4 month trip with no problems at all. This has been a good experience. We have had 5 motor homes and 2 other TT's so we are experienced. In my experience, I consider the unit a good buy and would recommend it to others.....

Our 2012 Skyline Nomad Joey 196S is two towing seasons old. Two very long (over 4,000 miles each) RVing trips so far, one around Memorial Day 2012 and the other around Labor Day this year. Plus several 600-mile round trips, through the Hill country to Austin and back. So over 10,000 miles so far on the Joey. It's a great little RV. Perfect for two old folks and two dogs. It gets crowded, but it's only 19' long inside, and it doesn't have a slide so no elbow room.

It came with a cheap mattress, so our first mod was to replace the mattress with a Serta EuroTop.

Ours came with Goodyear Marathon ST radial tires, which in the past have been junk. But with about 10,000 miles on the stock tires, no problems at all.

Before our 4,000-mile trip this year, I had Monroe Gas Magnum RV shocks added to the suspension. I couldn't really tell any difference with or without the shocks.

The Nomad Joey is an "economy" priced RV trailer. Ours cost a hair over $12,000 plus TT&L, brand new. I don't expect much RV for only $12,000, but this one has been a pleasant surprise.
