Still waiting for my replacement fan blade to arrive... getting anxious to see if it helps.

Ok, got the fan this afternoon. I've already swapped it and shot video and measured with a DB meter before and after. I'll be posting it later this afternoon once I've had a chance to edit it and do a few chores.

My recommendation is to do it if you feel yours is too loud. The difference was better than I expected. More to follow soon.

Ok, here is the video. Please excuse the low audio in the beginning where I'm explaining how to replace the fan. I had the cover on the goPro and forgot to remove it. I did remove the cover for the important part where you get to hear before and after. The result is a substantial reduction in dB and a pitch change.

Before and After dB readings:

Roof Top Before: 76dB
Roof Top After: 70dB

28' Distance Before: 58dB
28' Distance After: 50dB

Video: (If you choose the youtube link in the video menu bar it will be much larger video and easier to see what I'm doing)

And here is the video of the air duct fix I promised. Click on the youtube link in the video menu bar at the bottom for a larger video size.

I just did my AC reseal the duct area and after the fix I think there is more air coming out the vents. I also noticed some large holes in the return side that will allow air to be sucked from the attic area of the TT into the AC return side. Sealed those also. The WR 250RDSW kit trailer continues.

Sealing those small holes from the attic area was my next chore as I noticed a couple when shooting my video

I also noticed there are large gaps near the heat sync fins outside under the cowl that will allow air to flow around the fins etc... rather than through the fins. Wonder if sealing those would be a good idea or just overkill.

Makes perfect sense! Since I am deaf in my left ear, I just set the balance to all right and listen to old Seinfeld reruns..

With all the talk of the fan and noise, I just went out and looked at mine. Yep, the noisy one up there. Kind a like a vintage air show up on the roof.

I also had an RV park neighbor confirm my a/c on our 2015 Wind River 250RLSW was too noisy. It is the Coleman Mach 8. Just ordered the Fan Kit and look forward to it not being a further bother to us or to others.

And MAJOR kudos for the videos. The one on the insulation inside confirmed we had a problem too, as the insulation board had dislodged at the top, allowing most of the cooled air to recycle into the return air. Once repositioned and duct taped, the a/c now has more airflow through the registers.

Cheers

dagmandt,

Many thanks for your excellent research and documentation! You set an excellent standard for helping all of us ORV aficionados! When I can next summit the rooftop, I'll do the fan swap.

Thanks!!

Bob
