Well it's official now I pulled the trigger on a new Blackstone 280RKSB today. It would likely be manufactured in the first part of January and I am a little concerned about it sitting on the dealers lot in Utah until I am able to get up there in February to pick it up. Do any of you have any experience to know whether the snow and extreme cold temperatures are likely to damage the unit? When I do pick it up I would like to spend a couple of weeks in the area checking it out, but I am afraid it's going to be too cold to do so comfortably. I suspect it's a good way to test it's four seasons capability.

So,,,, tell your dealer you want it moved to an indoor storage till you get there to pick it up. you want it waxed and detailed inside and out, you want all systems checked before it is put in storage. If he is going to have it a few months before you pick it up there better not be one warranty repair needed when you sign the papers. Congrats on the buy, you will feel at home here. Wow, 4 months from order to build, they must be busy up there.

Don't know a lot about that model but your going to love the rear kitchen.

If your dealer is in the Salt Lake valley, "extreme cold" doesn't exist. The trailer will,handle the very rare below 0 temp just fine as long as it is empty of fluids, and it will be. Which dealer are you using? We went with Stewart's because Ray Citte had too pushy of sale staff.

Yes we too are buying from Stewart's. As you know they are located in American Fork Utah and in checking the weather I see that last year it got down to 23 below zero in the month of January. I suppose as long as it is empty of fluids ,as it will be, that should not be a problem, but I must say that picturing that coach with 18 inches of snow sitting on top of it in 20 below zero weather sends chills up my spine. i'm guessing when we pick it up we will then head south maybe to Moab Utah and spend a couple of weeks they're checking things out. At least it should be a little warmer somewhere else.

We bought our Fox Mountain in April of 2013. It was built on Jan 20 2013. We had a water leak 1st night out. I found the PDI sheet in the binder of manuals that the dealer uses when they get a new unit. Everything was checked off except water test. Reason listed was, "too cold". Something to check out when you do your walk thru. We had running water during the PDI but didn't notice it till we were 75 miles down the road and setup for our 1st night. The 12V water pump was coming on by it's self every 20 mins.

Way to go Rudy! Quit with the worrying. It will be just fine. If something does happen the dealer has insurance to cover it. You will just take possession of a different one!

I sure hope you are right Rod. The thing I worry about a little bit is that some damage is done and we don't know about it for a couple of weeks later and we have already taken possession. My early February the weather does begin to warm up a little bit.

American Fork doesn't get anywhere close to -23! You can check temperature records at Weather History for American Fork, UT [Utah] for January. AF is in the valley and doesn't have the cold or snow the mountains have.

Thanks so much for setting me straight on the temperatures in American Fork. The website link that you sent me to is fantastic. With just a little luck and planning we might be able to pick this thing up in mid January.

Hmm, I wonder what day that was. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that we never even got close to 23 below here. I live about 6 miles away from Stewart's and at a mile high. In fact a quick search tells me the record low in January is 19 below.
