Plants, Containers, and Herbs ??

Hi Guys ! We are contemplating traveling with a couple of Herb containers; and moving them back and forth from the truck (canopied) to the site picnic tables / sunshine; ........... any ideas? Thinking about using a tough little bucket-like container w/handle built-in; and will drill adequate drain holes. Looking at the colorful - "flat-back" heavy handled buckets at feed store.............. ?

Metal planters will eventually rust, ceramic is heavy and breakable. I'd go with simple plastic pots; perhaps a window box shape to take up as little room as possible, or even a strawberry jar (in plastic).

They make some very nice plastic window box type containers out anymore. Check and see what you can find in Walmart of all places. As far as herbs I like to carry garlic Chive Rosemary and Sage. I think what you need to do there is actually see what you are using when you do Cook Out. Hope this helps enjoy I know I sure do!!! :-)

Well, we're not on the road yet, but I downsized my plants to a rubber window box sitting at the kitchen sink window. We have those foam mats with edges like puzzle pieces, I cut off a few of those notched edges, and fitted them over each drain hole on the window box. So when I water, there is no leakage, which is something that happens a lot when I water 😯. Anyway, I have catnip, rosemary, basil and celery all in the same container. They really like their spot, and I have a few types of lettuce starting in a bowl, just because I can't cut up fresh veggies without sprouting the parts that get cut off. Anyway, also 2 African violets that I downsized into smaller, lighter pots. Someone in this forum had suggested placing all the plants in your shower when travelling. So we'll do that when we get on the road in April. But I definitely got rid of the huge, heavy pots.
