Plumbing issues

We were hoping to go MO in a few days, for a week or so. The camper ended up being a mess. The toilet leaks now and the propane won't run. I can probably work those out. What is odd is when I filled the fresh tank and turned up the pump, water goes straight out the city water hookup.

I don't know how the who thing works, but looking at it, I don't know what stopped it from doing this normally. There must have been some sort of one-way valve in the city hookup connector. i don't know.

Anyone have any idea what I am talking about, or what is going on?

Most city water entries have a spring loaded check valve built in.

If you look into the water entry you should be able to see a 3 spoke spring loaded metal, or plasic valve:

(A screen may cover it):

If the valve malfunctions/sticks water can/will escape when the system is pressurized by the water pump.

Sometimes if you simply press and wiggle that 3 spoke valve it will stop leaking....(if not replace the water entry).

You can also simply add a cap to it!

I almost hate to admit it, but what it was, was the cone screen was put in backwards. I didn't realize there was a spring loaded check value. Learned something.

I like easy fixes, even if they are brain farts.

City inlet is a check valve, Two things you can do.

NOTE: the first will get you wet.

Turn pump off, REmove screen washer from inlet.

Turn pump on Water flows, there is a small white "pin" in the center o the outlet.. Push it, gently.. NOTE: some say you do this the valve will never work again.. This may be true but since it is not working now, what do you have to loose? (A dry shirt of course).

If it seats when you release it, Flow will stop and all is good. If not.

A plug will work for now.. and replace the inlet when you get a chance, easy job.
