Power is off
I have power to my rv receptacles but not to the interior lights. What's the problem?

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I bit more information will help you get more precise responses. What kind of RV are we talking about? Year, make model. Are you plugged in to shore power when this happens? Does the same thing happen when on generator power?
If you really mean that your interior lights don't work but your TV outlets are hot... I don't have an answer.
If it's a matter of the TV outlets working but other outlets not working... it could be a GFI tripped or a breaker. If this is happening only when disconnected from shore power, it could be normal since your inverter only powers certain outlets.
More data and I'll bet you can get this nailed down pretty quickly.

Receptacles are usually 120 VAC and your interior lights are all 12 VDC.
Check your Battery Cut-Off Switch usually located near the front entry door to see if it has been accidentally turned off.
If that's OK, then it could be your Battery Cut-Off Solenoid that has gone south or if it's a Latching Solenoid check the fuse on the solenoid.

More information on what type of rig you have would be helpful in trying to solve your problem. The lights inside are 12V, first check and make sure the battery disconnect switch has not been activated.

1995 Thor 25' TT. Shore power is hot to the camper, outlets work, but camper lights will not come on.

Sorry, now that you have supplied additional information regarding your rig, chances are that you do NOT have a Battery Cut-Off switch near the entry door nor a Battery Cut-Off Solenoid.
Those are found frequently on RV coaches versus tow trailers.
I would get out your trusty DVOM meter and start looking for a bad ground, clean your house battery connections both positive and negative, start tracing the 12 VDC power from the house battery to your hose lights, etc.

Found the battery was dead! Why is the 12v system dependent upon he battery being active? Shouldn't the lights receive power directly thru the converter?

lights not working
yes all things being equal yes your lights should work through the converter it is possible that the battery is shorted taking all the converter power. i would try charging and testing that dead battery if it is falty or won,t hold a charge buy a new battery and hook it up then check converter.

Maybe your converter has gone belly up.
You need to charge the battery with an external charger and test it first to see if it is toast or not. Then you can move on to the converter to see whether it is working correctly or not.

If batteries are dead and no 12 VDC, you need to check the output from the power converter. Also make sure the power converter is plugged into the 120 VAC and that plug is hot.
