Probably a stupid question..

My husband fell asleep before emptying black water tanks, didn't tell me they were almost full.. I rinsed off and now the tub won't drain and it stinks!

Are those gasses/stench poisonous?

No, I don't know how to change them. I told hubs if he wanted an RV? He could do all the dirty work. I love to ground camp. We are using it now in front of my parents house. Didn't want to wake people up by taking a quick shower.

Now the RV stinks and I am irritated! He won't wake up to clean them out and I am worried the gasses are dangerous! Plus.. That smell! How do I get rid of it after he dumps!

Sounds like you took a shower and now the grey (sinks, shower) tank is over-full, not the black (toilet) tank. When the grey is full the shower usually is the first problem area because it is the lowest drain. Does this sound like the problem? If so, less of a problem than the black, as the toilet should still work ok through the night snd the smell is not as bad.

But basically, you need to get the tanks dumped.

See.. I know NOTHING about this lol

So it's the grey tank? And it's not bad? I noticed after I febreezed everything lol, that the smell wasn't as strong.

Hubs said he would dump tomorrow...

Ugh the smell is rotten water!

Close the door and run the vent fan in the lavatory - if you have a fan.

The shower should most surely be dumping into the "grey" waste water tank - not the black. Black is sewage from the toilet. The grey tank fumes are rarely dangerous. The smell could usually be there, but it is under the drain traps, so you don't smell it.

It is only permanent if left unattended for days.

Best luck

The kitchen sink also has water up to the drain.

You could scoop the kitchen sink and shower and throw it on a lawn or dump it down the toilet...then plug the drain with the stopper.

What ever you need to get through the night.

My husband fell asleep before emptying black water tanks

Two suggestions
1. Wake husband up
2. You go out and pull gray valve (there are somethings both parties should know how to do in case of emergency)

Yes my answer is blunt and to the point, it is not rocket science.

Unless her parents have a dump set-up, that would not be a good idea.

Just dump some of the grey water. It might leave a soap residue where the water has gone but it won't damage anything and is not a health hazard. Just pull for a short time. You don't need to dump the whole tank.

Lol thank you all for your responses.

Right when I was about to sleep on my parents couch.. He woke up because of the smell and emptied them.. Wow he was grumpy! Lol

Today I asked him to show me how to empty the gray water tank..

YOu need to learn how to dump.. And unlike my wife MAKE SURE THERE IS A HOSE ATTACHED FIRST (long story).

The fumes are annoying but likely not fatal,,, But I'd get it drained and learn how.. You should actually learn all basic operations.

Set up, take down and tank dumping primary on the list.. Your husband might not be able to do the job for you.

If I ever take on a traveling companion again I will make sure she learns at least the basics.

I agree that even thought your husband has assumed the dirty chores are his, you should learn HOW to do it. A lot of aggravation can be avoided.
