yep my generator uses propane so yep every trip!! Only time mines turned off is when it's being filled with propane sometimes....

the problem there is that the bottles themselves are supposed to be turned off. An option would've been to use a remote bottle opener from a nitrous kit for a car but I don't think vertically there's not enough room above the bottle to add the opener.
