We have a 'New to Us' Prowler travel traliler, and I will use this for a Question and Answer thread. And believe me I will have plenty of them to come. I have been searching and this seems to be one of the best Camper Forums I have seen to date, need to give everyone an atta boy for being so helpfull. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Okay here it goes, What are your thoughts on ' Slide Out Awnings ' are they worth the money or just invest in a small ladder and squeegee them off? Also what Slide Out rubber treatment seems to be the go to stuff?

Slide out awnings are a great investment, not only do they keek debris from collecting and coming in with your slide but also help to blowing rain from coming in past the top swipe seal. A factor that is commonly overlooked is the the type of slide system and the size (weight) of the slide. Believe it or not some small free floating slides will not seal properly from tension on the slideout awning

Slide room awnings will also keep the inside of your RV cooler in the summer time. Keeps the sun off of the slide room roof. Plus, I don't have a ladder to get to the roof.

I have also invested in window awnings for just this reason.

Floor on the Slide Out moves first ( when pulling slide in ) ends up at a pretty good tilt before moving in. Our first slide so may be nothing. Just wondering if there are any rails at top of slide I need to be lubricating?

It's normal there is no rail at the top of your slide. It's has a motor/gear box assembly that turns a gear and a mated rail attached to the slide pulled the slide in. As the weight shifts towards the inside of the coach the slide actually kind of falls back down onto the rollers do not lubricate your swipe seals Round your slide either they are designed too drag against the slideout and change direction to squeegee the slide when it's moving

Slide Out jack stands. Are they needed/ anybody using them? My slide is not all that big Just Table & Couch.

No not needed. If your slide side of trailer settles and you have jacks under slide. guess what gets twisted, Slide room. Not needed. waste of money. If manufacturers say they needed jacks they would of included them with unit, to cover their butts for warranties.

I believe you should refer to your owners manual. I have a 1996 Prowler 5er, and it states that support jacks SHOULD be used when parked for more than a few days or something to that effect as I don't have the manual in front of me. Many people say they cause damage but who would know better someone who guesses, or the manufacturer?? I use them on mine when parked for long periods of time and I see no reason to stop. As for the awning toppers, they probably do help keep it cooler however people that I have observed in campgrounds that have them usually end up with debris under it because the ends are open and it either blows in or the squirrels take it there.

I will go with none thanks. We only camp for few days in a row anyhow.

Before our first outing, I'd like to determine what sewer hose type products I am going to need. Our camper came with what looks like no more than a 'dryer hose' type green drain hose, looks like dealer spent a whole $5 on it. Most if not all our camping won't have sewer at our site, we will have to go to dump station.( been looking at portable storage, hope our weekends aren't long enough to need ) Just wondering what sewer hose upgrade, and fittings you all would recommend I look into.

I bought a "Rino" something from Wal Mart, I buy new one every year.

Pretty sure this is the one... It gets cleaned and lives in its own tub in the basment of the trailer next to the box of rubber gloves...
