Pulled Trigger on Minnie 2451BHS

My first trailer. As a newbie, I was set on getting the 2015, Winnebago Minnie 2201DS but really did not care for the dark colors. My wife insisted I should get something with bunk beds even though she was totally against buy a trailer in the first place. In the end, it came down to a 2016 model with the light interior, it cost me 2500.00 more than the 2015 but I got the bunk beds and the lighter color. In the end, It was a decent deal from a retail price of 33k down to 24.5k. I could have had the 2015 for 22k.

What do you think? was it a good price? will I regret it? Will I be able to recover most of my spent money if we decide to sell it in a year or two ?

If Momma is happy, we're all happy. If Momma's not happy, none of us are happy.

You did good in my estimation.

Congratulations JT. Sounds like you got a pretty good deal and hope DW will be happy with the bunk beds. Yes, I think you will be able to recover most of your money in a year or two. We need photos.

Congrats!
Happy wife, Happy life!
Don't worry about the price anymore. Go camp and have a great time.

You will want some foam egg crate toppers for those bunks. Not very comfy.
My wife also added little curtains with spring loaded curtain rods, which both kids really like. Both complained about the lights from the refrigerator at night.

Thanks for the replies. Nice to be part of the community.

The outside color is Platinum. Inside is Onyx. Don't know what the 15.0M BTU A/C upgarde is.

Excited and hope I can use it year round even in the rain!
Also, hope the 2011 Durango with the 5.7 Hemi does not struggle with it. It is rated for 7200 lbs.

Anyone have experience towing in snow? Is it scary or doable

Congratulations!

You'll love the bunks. They are great for storing luggage and other things when you don't have guests that need them for sleeping space.

We have a TT that sleeps 9, and it's just the 2 of us most of the time, but we love the extra space!

I have and don't recommend it for 2 main reasons.
The salt will destroy the trailer's underside.
And the trailer's drum brakes are much too easy to lock up in slippery conditions, and that means the trailer passes you and you go backwards.

I would invest in an HD transmission cooler for the Durango. The tranny will be you weakest link. Also make sure all you tires are well inflated. Rears on the Durango should probably be near 50psi as I think you have a lot of trailer for that SUV.

Congratulations on the new Minnie and I hope it makes you as happy as our rig has made us. I think you got a pretty good deal....perhaps better than what I got! And, I like the movement towards lighter interiors and wish there had been other options when we got ours.

I agree that you want to try to avoid salty road conditions, but you can work around that if your schedule allows. And, it's possible to to give the undercarriage a good rinse if needed. I'm not sure how the enclosed underbellies make the potential problems worse or better.

The Durango came with a tow package which includes the cooler. I had the RV place install a weight distribution / ant sway system and it worked really well. However, coming down the Columbia River Gorge by Hood River was a nightmare regardless. I swear those are hurricane force cross winds in there!

Here ae a few pics. You can see the the lighter color of the 2016 models. I think that will play out well in this dark dingy part of the country I live in

That Durango sure looks little beside the trailer. The Minnie is very beautiful. If you want to know how to play the TV through the ceiling speakers let me know.

Is that the 2451BHS or 2201DS?

Would love to know what you did. The TV speakers are not the best.

Here is what I did and it works great.

Thank you for contacting ASA Electronics Technical Service department. If you have verified that the RCA cables are good between the red and white audio input on the TV and the red and white audio input on the back of the AWM968, try the following steps. First go into the TV Audio Menu and turn the TV speakers to Off. Then go into the Setup Menu and change the Audio Output setting to Fixed. On the AWM968 stereo receiver, make sure it is set to AUX 1 position. With the TV in this configuration, you will need to adjust the volume on the AWM968.

Is your new trailer a 2451BHS or 2201DS?
