Question about AC and noise

We have a 2014 Starcraft. 3rd trip out. We were sitting inside and I heard what sounded like a quick burst of popcorn popping and stopped. I had baked potatoes in the microwave and figured that was where the noise came from. But about 10 mins later, we hear something that sounded like hail hitting the roof for about 10 seconds. The large AC vent in the ceiling had some water dripping from it, not much but enough we seen a few drips. We cut it off for a bit and turned it back on later and it's been ok since then. No noise, no water.

Any clue what this could have been? We are at Myrtle Beach and it's been running a lot. We don't have a ladder here so we couldn't get up on top of the camper.

I'll bet both the inside and outside humidity are high. The A/C is dehumidifying the air and the coils are frosting up, then when the compressor cycles off the frost falls into the airflow and rattles its way through the fan. When you shut the unit down the frost melted and drained outside the RV.
Unfortunate result of high humidity.
