Now obviously it's very hard to enforce, and if you lack respect for others, you can probably get by doing it. Our resort lot owners spend a lot of money every year on septic system maintenence, and anyone using these chemicals adds to our costs.

I don't understand why manufacture and sale of these poisons is not outlawed by the EPA.

^^ Thetford's answer to your accusation. I don't really have a dog in the fight and use formaldehyde free stuff myself, but (whether propaganda or not) it was interesting reading nonetheless.

So the answer to RV park septic issues seems to be more water per flush or the addition of water prior to dumping. Will do.

I think I'll put a lot more stock in the objectivity of this one (U of Arizona)

The Thetford blurb kinda makes me think of what the tobacco companies said about the health effects of smoking.

Hmmm didn't know I was helping to protect the environment by only using water.

The author is listed in the credits as a Water Resources Specialist, hardly the title of a college student. Furthermore, the footnotes state:

"This fact sheet was adapted from Alert for RV, Boat and Mobile Home Owners and Park Operators About Safe Wastewater Disposal, EPA Publication 909-F-99-002, July 1999."

Just what parts do you think are merely "opinion"? That formaldehyde kills bateria? Or that living bateria are essential to the functioning of a septic system?

And if you don't like the U. of A. do a Google search. You'll find as many references saying the same thing as you care to read.

Don't get them in a wad.

I don't believe anything I hear, and only half of what I see.
