Question:Kumho 205R14 109/107QD tires

Anyone ...

...have experience with or opinion of these tires? I am considering buying them for my 3,880 Gross weight, single axle, 14 inch wheel TT.

The Vietnam or China country of origin bothers me. China more so.

Bob

My old trailer used 14" tires, and when I researched replacements, the Kumhos came very highly recommended by the small, single axle trailer forums (like Casita, etc.). I would have bought them, but they were out of stock. The only other Load Range D tire I could find in 14" at that time was the Kendra Karriers which are distributed by Martin Wheel and available from Northern Tool. I ended up with the Karriers, which seemed like a good heavy tire - much heavier thant the Load Range C's that came off - and we ran them over 15,000 trouble free miles over a couple of years before trading in the trailer .....

If the Kumhos are available, I would get them ......

Our 17' EggCamper came with Kendra Karriers and they served us well for three years, but I hated limiting our speed to 65mph. That's why I switched to the Kumho 857 (195R14 106/104R D). Speed rating of "R" (106 mph), rated for about 2000 lbs. each, and made in Korea! If we lived in California or some other state that limited towing speeds to 55 mph it wouldn't have been such a big deal, but here in Florida you can pull a trailer at the regular posted speed limit for cars.

Thanks guys,

So who makes a 14 in.rim that will support the 65 psi. recommended by Kuhmo?

My TT wheels are only rated for 50 psi. and my tire dealer is having difficultiy finding a more substantial 14 inch rim.

I think these were the ones I bought: Americana Aluminum Star Mag Trailer Wheel - 14" x 5-1/2" Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 Americana Tires and Wheels AM20305
My EggCamper is only about 2500 lbs so I'm well within the limits - you will be close, however.

Thank you Yarcola,

Just what I was looking for. I spent the entire afternoon searching the internet and making frustrating phone calls. Your answer solved my problem with 1 minute! I will place the order tomorrow.
