Quiet Portable Inverter Generator with Remote Start

I've been researching inverter portable generators so I can replace my 59 decibel Ramsond 4500 which has proven too loud for my camping neighbors.

I'm looking for 53-56 dB on 1/4 load and remote start. Yes, you can't go wrong with Honda, but price and primitive recoil rope starting are negatives to me. Powerhouse generators have remote start, but they are a little too loud. Champion has a couple nice 53 dB options, but again, manual recoil rope starting. Yamahas are about the same as Hondas.

Can anyone recommend a good 2000-3000 remote start, 53-56 dB inverter generator or a cheap way to convert a Honda 2000 to remote start? Thanks in advance!

bottomlimetrading.com has the 2014 models on sale! The remote start model PRO3600 model is only $955 shipped. I ordered one last night. Thx for the recommendation!

Personally, i don't think a honda is all that quiet either. It's quieter than the competition, but it's still loud at night when running the A/C on your travel trailer.

Your best bet is to build an insulated box for it. Use the 12v out to put in an intake fan, and use the exhaust kit for the exhaust. Of course this only works if you're towing with a pickup and have bed space for it.

Here's a noise test done on the honda generator by some university students. It seems national parks standard are ratings done at 50ft, and need to be less than 60db on the A-weigted rating scale to comply. The A-rating scale makes the decibels seem like less than they really are because it's only for lower frequency noises. The actual db of the generator are much higher as you can see in their graphs. http://www.me.ua.edu/stal/Pages/PDF/HondaNoiseTests.pdf

To give you perspective, for the honda eu2000i you are looking at about 67db on the non-weighted measurement, and 56db on the weighted measurement for 50feet. That's like someone have a full conversation right outside your window while you're trying to sleep. If your neighbors are closer than that, it will be much louder.

Even with a honda eu2000i, which we use at work. They are still really loud up close. I'd probably put one in an enclosure with some dynamat if you want to use it in a park.
