Raising Trailer
I just bought a 2003 trailer last year and the trailer is very low to the ground and I notice the springs was under the chassis so my question is can I put the springs on top of the chassis and would it cause any problems ? I am planning on using new u-bolts .

Are you saying that the springs go under the AXLES? Could flip the axles to under the springs to raise the TT.
I just changed my axles to straight rather than 4" drop axles. Made a big difference in ground clearance and it tows nicer also.
Check and see if you have a 4" drop in there right now. New axles run about $115 each if you can reuse your brakes and wheels.

If I read you correctly (Under the axle, you wish to put them on tip)
Many have done that.. I can not recommend making changes, but many have done that.. I've done it myself.

I had it done last year to raise a 25' Wilderness. Used a repair shop that specializes in truck springs-they did a great job, flipped axles, supplied new brackets and hardware, etc. Trailer rides much higher but no noticeable difference in handling

You don't actually "FLIP" axles, but just put springs on top. There are kits with new U bolts, spacers, and all needed. Very easy to do. Good time to replace all bushings and link plates.

Make SURE when they weld the spring perches on the perches are TOTALLY welded NOT spot welded.
I "flipped" a 5er axles and had great ground clearance. Had towed in the "flipped" configuration for about 2 years. Pulled out one day, 2 mph, tested brakes, and spring perch on rear axle broke off and rear axle departed, how front axle held total weight (12,200) I have no idea.
Axle repair company the did the "flip" accepted responsibility. New rear axle, ... If it would have happened on the highway would have been a disastrous accident for sure.
As stated above the "flip" is not a flip it is a relocation of where the spring perch is from below the axle to above the axle. Be careful and if you have any camber in the axle that it remain correctly aligned.
Make SURE new U bolts, and replace any worn other components of the suspension. You might want to go to wet shackle bolts during this process.

If your springs are already on top the axle, there is a company out of canada that makes trailer lift blocks. Many trailers use a 1.75" wide spring and require a block different from common car lift blocks. they make 1,2,and 3" blocks. Be aware that blocks will put more loads both side and breaking on the springs/hangers so should be a last resort.
