Recommendation for a pre purchase inspector in Tenn/GA

I am getting pretty close to pulling the trigger on a used travel trailer.
The trailer is not too far from Ringgold Ga and Ringgold is not too far from Chattanooga Tenn. Thus the request is for a recommendation for someone who is a competent inspector for a used 30 foot travel trailer and all involved systems.

Since this is my first TT I dont know it all... I want someone on my side looking out for my interests who does. I dont want to end up purchasing a piece of crap..

I don't seem to come up with many pre purchase inspectors in the area. Atlanta inspectors don't want to travel that far. Please let me know if you have used someone for a pre purchase survey of a travel trailer near the Tenn GA border.

Let me be the first to welcome you to the family...

First off how old, brand of tt, are you looking to buy...

Makes a big difference between a 2 year old unit and one that is 10 years old.

Thanks for the advise and making me feel welcome Superslif.
I would have never thought the year would have make a difference. (Shows you how much I need to learn) The coach is a fleetwood and was built in the year 2000.

RV inspections

There is a company in the Chattanooga area that does RV inspections. I don't have the # handy but it is SRS Inspection services. I did a google search for RV inspections Chattanooga and found them. My buddy in VA had them do an inspection on a motorhome in north Georgia and was very pleased with the inspection. He didn't buy that motorhome due to some issues found during the inspection. I googled them again, the # is 423-255-0832. I hope this helps.

Hello, Thanks for the info kicked back. I did speak to the owner of SRS. From what I found and what he told me he is one of the only people who do inspections in the area. I guess I had the cart before the horse.

I saw the TT on Saturday. It had some leaks and delamination in a place that I didn't want to pursue fixing. I still like the floor plan but she wasnt a keeper for me.. Someone else put a deposit on it on Saturday too, site unseen... Not sure who would do that but to each their own... Thanks for your help. The search will continue.

In my experience, which I will admit is not too much, leaks are trouble you never really know how bad a leak is till you pull it about. Then it's too late

Keep looking you will find the unit that is right for you

Just to close out this thread. I did find a travel trailer and an inspector.
I was able to get an inspector from Apalachee RV of Auburn Ga to come out and perform an inspection. Usually you must take the TT to them but they decided to be a good will steward for the RV /TT industry and came out and looked at it for me. That says something about their character. A Look at their web site shows they are a stand up service center. They told me they feel bad when they see people get burned by not having a good pre purchase inspection. The trailer is at their shop now getting a few tires and a bearing job. Just because I want to know exactly what I am working with as the new owner of the TT.

congratulations! glad you found someone to check it out for you. you are right, there are a LOT of things to look for. leaks, soft spots in the floor, non working appliances, tires, bearings, frame cracks...and on and on and on. LOL

sounds like you went about it the right way getting someone to come check it out for you. the condition of the roof, and any leaks....sometimes you won't even know there was a leak until it starts to show on the ceiling, by then, there's typically so much more damage you can't see until you start to take it apart and fix it....

anyway, congrats on your NTU (new to you) camper! get out there and have fun!
