repairing ripped vinyl floor

I'm going to attempt to repair a large ripple in the vinyl floor in my travel trailer. I'm going to cut out a replacement piece of vinyl from under queen bed (storage area). The current vinyl floor is floating (not glued down). Should I glue the replacement piece of vinyl to the plywood floor and seal all around the replacement piece of vinyl or would that cause a problem with the rest of the floor?

The floating floor is because it allows the vinyl to expand and contract with temperature changes. If you glue it down at the damage, it might cause wrinkles or cause other issues between the glued and unglued region. You might try slipping a backing in through the opening and glue the new piece onto the backing and along the margin between the new and old pieces.

I believe they sell a repair system where you iron it after applying some paste.

A problem with our slide on our new 2015 Grey Wolf tore a gash in the vinyl floor. It was under warrentee and replacing of the whole floor was not an option, they used some matching matching material from under the bed for the repair. Six months later we still cannot see the seems in the repair. Unusual !!! but cudos to Camping World Service in Jacksonville FL.
