Replaced Jensen antennae with King Jack

My trailer came with a Jensen Omni directional antennae which was basically worthless. I decided to go with the King Jack because I park my trailer under the carport at home and if I want to use the TV at home, a Wingard wouldn't be able to crank up. Also, the Jensen was mounted so the cable went into the trailer concealed in a cabinet and the Winegard wouldn't fit in the existing spot, but the King would.
The King is a skitch taller than the vent covers, and a full 2" shorter than the AC, so all is good. I removed the Jensen, measured to make sure the inside part would clear the cabinet framework, and drilled a 2 1/4" hole. I drilled a hole to run the antennae cable that was covered by the base, attached the cables, and used Dicor sealent and screwed it down. I used the existing Jensen wall plate assembly since it has a 12volt outlet for the TV.
Sitting in the driveway, I now get about several more stations and they don't keep cutting out like before.

You'll love your King Jack antenna. I got one about 3 years ago and it has worked great.

Mine has one of those as well. I get some stations but they go in and out so ti is impossible to watch most programming without throwing a fit. We don't go camping to watch TV but I do like to have the morning weather and news to prepare for the day.

Me too.. It's not directional so there is no crank or anything inside the trailer.. What's a good upgrade for this type of antenna??

Ya good question the site we are on for fall fling 6 weeks have one channel which is Spanish but we were on the next site one weekend before and it worked ok and like u said you can't spin it. It works great at home. The guy next to me has one that looks like a shark kind of with a red and Blue light he has a wooden frame he made with antenna on a 10 feet pole connected to his cable wire off the old crank up one but he's seasonal

Do you have the option to install a directional? Our new TT came with a Winegard IV. I added a small signal amp. I was floored when we took the TT to Jordan Lake and picked up over 40 channels, most in 1080. Take a little tuning from time to time, but works awesome. About as good as the ClearStream 4V we have in our house.

I have the same Jensen antenna, it's worthless. I didn't realize the antenna was right above the radio, I'll be out this weekend to see if I can access my antenna as easily as you did, but it seems to me my area above the radio is all sealed . I' got to change that crummy antenna.

Is the King JAck primarily to get better TV reception? I don't own a TV, but better radio reception would be nice sometimes. Anyone know if that is improved as well over the two cheap pieces of painted sheet metal I/many of us have now?

The King Jack is only for TV. But in an ironic twist, one of the better radio antennas I have found for boats and trailers where you don't want to drill holes to the exterior is a Jensen 6' wire antennae. Just plug it into the radio, and it can be draped, or taped or what ever to get the best reception.

Sea eagle:

I have the same antenna and stereo, Jenson. My cabinet is the same setup as yours, how did you get that top panel out to access the antenna wires?

I waited until my wife was out shopping then I gently tapped on the "blank" piece, it was stapled from the back to the cabinet framework. I was able to work it loose. The stereo has a trim ring that snaps on. If you pop off the trim ring, there's 4 screws that mount the stereo to the cabinet. One more piece of advise, I disconnected my shore power, I'm glad I did, I hit a 120volt wire, and nicked it, but I was able to just rerun new piece.
