I keep telling owners with rubber(EPDM) roofs to try the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Mop. It's amazing how clean mine comes out just using dish washing liquid.

Just got done doing mine also. I used spic and span with a medium bristle scrub brush. I was happy with the results. Scrubbed all the seal areas and touched up with Dicor.

I've been curious about roof maintenance. Recently bought a 2013 Wind River 280RLS which has a rubber roof. Do you really need to hand scrub or could you use a car wash wand or would that be to much pressure? This is a fairly big trailer and I'm not to excited about the thought of scrubbing the roof by hand.

I've also heard that you need to put some sort of sealer or conditioner on the roof every couple of years?

Have been on my roof a lot. Last couple of years the EPDM was looking pretty bad. Had to take the awning down so I thought I would do a little cleaning of the roof in that area. Had some Crud Cutter (got it at Lowes) left from former jobs and tried it. I worked wonders, so I bought a gallon and waiting to get motivated to clean the whole roof!

Here's what I do. I take a two gallon yard sprayer to which I had 2 cups of bleach, a generous squirt of car washing soap, and fill the tank with water. Spray the entire roof with the mixture including AC covers and vents. Leave it be for a few minutes, then spray off with garden hose. I may have to repeat on some stubborn spots or use a soft brush but usually do not have to. You do NOT need to buy or use RV roof cleaner, and you do NOT need to apply any roof protectants unless you really want to spend the money. It is good to use some 303 protectant on all the plastic part up there.
In no circumstance should you ever use a stiff brush on a rubberized roof.

I just used a sponge mop from Dollar Tree and Murphy's oil soap whace was recommended by Newmar for their BriteTek roofs, then, when dry, I sprayed it with 303. After 12 years it still looked almost new.

There is no easy way to wash the roof. The best way that I have found is to use the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser mop. Still not easy.

Now I am thinking of using a power washer. People are telling me that it works if you are careful.

I use Dicor (sp) after the roof is clean.

I wash my 16 year old roof 2 times a year.
Clean it with water only from a 1550 PSI Pressure Washer using wide fan setting.
NO scrubbing needed. Takes the winter Florida Green mold right off roof, vent covers and satellite dishes.
Roof still looks like it still has a few more years left in it.

Years ago I did the soap and long handle brush. That took 3 times as long to do.
And tiring.

The guy parked next to me just used the best product and he said that it worked wonders on his roof, and remember that it is also a UV protectant. You don't want to skimp on roof maintenance on a EDPM roof. Also be careful about abrasive cleaners, they can damage the rubber. I use dish soap(like Dawn) and a mild bristle scrub brush. I do it twice a year, it cleans up most of the stains without a lot of scrubbing and returns the roof to white. If I were to buy something, I would use the BEST product.

Aerospace 303 is a spray on UV protectant. If you google it you will find all kinds of information about it. Available at most camping supply stores and other places.
