Hi, my uncle has a 2003 Pioneer Travel Trailer and is having trouble with his fridge. It was working when we got to the campground and now has suddenly stopped. No lights on the top light up and when we try it on propane we dont get the check light or anything. Not sure if it comes on then either. He phoned the RV Dealer and they told him it could be a few things. What they said was:

The fridge could be on LOCKOUT mode from not having dc power to it.

Or, its just not working because of the DC not being connected.

It is a dometic fridge. Anyone have any suggestions?

deanw - you need dc power for it to work. After our TT sits for a while and the battery drains, we have to connect it to the Truck before the fridge will light. It needs some power for the pilot lite to start. Hope that is all it is...

If it had no lights on top how did you switch it to propane??? sounds to me like no 12 volt power to it....... but if that is true how did you switch to propane..... could be low voltage to it also check fuses and breakers

Thanks for the replies. Okay so we still need 12 volt power regardless fo either electric or propane?

Sunkist5- We used the switch from Auto to LPG. But we got no lights either way.

Did he have the recall done?
Doe's he or did he smell ammonia?
Could be the over temp sensor cut the power so there wouldn't be a fire.
If so that means there's been a leak and he needs a new cooling unit.

Ok then you have no power to the frig then check fuses and breakers... no luck there start looking for a bad connection being that age it may just be as simple and unplugging wires and plugging them back in,( one at a time of course) if that does not fix it try running a wire from battery to the pos side of the board. if that fails bad ground......... if not a bad ground the main board could be bad, or the switch board on the front of the frig, sometimes you can unplug that board and replug it in and it may fix it. keep me posted. been there done that knows how it feels drives you crazy

You need 12v to operate your control board for either AC or LP gas.
There maybe a 12v wiring block behind the fridge on platform fridge sets on.
Check with volt meter.
Leave the fridge on AUTO MODE in case the power 110 goes off in camp ground and it will auto switch to LP gas with 12v power from your house batteries.
Near your door entrance someone may have accidentally shut off your battery cut off switch if you have no 12v's.
