Since I'm one of those individuals who don't buy into the rv.org rating system, I don't know the answer to the following question:

Are there any copyright restrictions on the CD that would prevent resale?

i have the CD and there is a statement in the agreement that the purchaser will not share it with anybody. after getting it i tend to think that some of the ratigs aren't so good. if you look up some of the top brands they aren't rated very well but they still have some pretty good info on them.

Copyright laws don't forbid the resale of any items. You just can't make copies of the materials. Nothing preventing (even a good conscience) someone from passing the original material on to someone else.

My statement was really intended to be more generic than strict Federal copyright law - ref. fisheroo's statement above:

So now I will ask the question, does anyone want to sell or donate their CD? My buying time frame will be in October, maybe at the Pomona RV show.

Thanks

Rory

RustyJC,

What are the weaknesses/short comings of the RV.org rating system? What other critera could/should be used/included?

I'm still researching, and want to utilize as much experienced opinion as possible.

Thanks in advance!

I do not know of any other source of unbiased information on RVs. They are not aligned or affiliated with the RV industry.

The RVCG is not perfect (what is?)-but they are a great source of information.. Their information has been a great help to us and kept us from making a big mistake.
The cost for their information is very small in the overall picture---It could save you thousands.

With many RVs you do not get what you pay for!!!

I agree with Link. Besides their ratings, the RVCG provides a lot of educational material.

We've used the material provided by the RVCG to help us make a decision on every single RV we've ever purchased. Notice I said "help." We do not use the information as the ONLY source of information...but we DO use it to help us narrow down our choices to two or three brands. Once we have our choices narrowed down, we can then do further, in depth, research on just those two or three brands rather than trying to weed through hundreds of brands.

Link and ELH,

Whew! thanks for your input! I thought I was a dupe for actually paying for a membership to receive the CD's. I must agree, Mr. & Mrs. Gallant seem to have the credentials to publish their opinions.

Back in the days (summer job college days) I drove equipment trailers and learned about securing/balence of loads to prevent shifting and killing people. Mr. Gallant was the first source which could credibly explain the physics of why trailers destabilize with a bow wave or state specifically what to look for in a balenced trailer rather than cosmetic facade.

There is no cure for stupidity, but education can cure ignorance. RVCG helped to begin to educate this RV ignorant soul. I know we eliminated numerous units when searching for our current trailer due to information from RVCG.

Again thanks for your input. Life is a learning experience.

This site will help you Rig Review by Owners

Owners elevatute their rigs and also a survey that shows if an owner would buy the same product again.
