Smile RV Roadside Assistance Programs

Can anyone recommend a reliable RV Roadside Assistance Program? We received the Coach-Net program when we purchased our Monaco Aluma Lite last year and we are now up for renewal. They have been helpful when we call for advice with minor concerns with our trailer but luckily we haven't yet had to use their towing services.

We currently have AAA accident insurance for towing our RV but answering tech questions about our RV is not part of our policy.

Thanks for any feedback.

Had good Sam. Average to come out for gas/dead battery small things like this over an hour. They contract out to people. Had a guy in a Lexus come out for my wifes car to jump battery, had one of those battery pak things in the trunk.Did you add the RV to your policy?

Stay with Coach Net. They are hands down easier to work with, no surprise costs, and the road service is great. I've had them for many years and their assistance is second to none. Too many horror stories about Good Sam.

Agreed with the stories on good sam. I am optimistic that Marcus will turn it around. As I recall, CoachNet was substantially more. (2x or more?)

Thank you for your important feedback. We've had good experiences each time we called for their tech assistance but haven't yet needed their roadside assistance. Sounds like we should renew with Coach Net.

We have Good Sam and have used it once for our toad with good results. No experience with using it for RV.

just my experience with good sam. NOT IMPRESSED

probably took 4 5 months to get the membership cards sent to me.
and when i used the service (coach in the driveway, filling tires with
air, and valve stem stuck open, resulting in tire deflating and loosing bead on the rim)
was on hold for 45 plus minutes waiting for customer service agent, and when i did get a live person, i as told they had no one available for tire service, waited probably another half hour, forty minutes on hold untill they found somebody, and then there be a 3 to 4 HOUR eta untill they could get there. ( thank goodness i was safe in my driveway and not on the side of the road somewhere, otherwise i would have been a wreck)

custome servce told me there would be a $60 dollar service fee, to which i agreed
asked if i had a spare (which i did) and i finished up with customer service.

in all fairness the tire service arrived fairly quickley (about an hour or so)
he called enroute to tell me he was bringing a replacement tire (nothing like trying to sell you something you don't need)

told the driver the tire was fine it had just lost the bead on the rim, at which point he tole me he would still bring the replacement tire (just in case)

took the tire service maby ten minutes to reseat, and refill the tire, OH and BTW
the service call would cost $120 dollars, explained to the tire tech that i was told there would only be a $60 charge, OOPSIE 2 hour minimum, $60 dollars

good sam will paper you at least twice a week during your membership
and hound you for a renewal

switching to coach-net after this posting, and if they don't impress me will switch to somebody else next year

mick

Careful with AAA's RV program. Our friends (and frequent traveling partners) called for a rear flat on their class c. They said they don't work on dualies...ever. That was a few years back so maybe that's changed. We have GS at the moment but will be switching to Coach-Net when that expires.

My experience with Coach-Net was terrible...

first incident calling - "You are not a member"...
second incident calling - "We don't do that type of help"...
third incident - "That will be $185 for the trip charge"....

Back to Good Sam for us - they had taken care of us before, but coach-net was part of the new rv purchase...

I am with Good Sam and I haven't had a problem with them or their services.

I was told by an area AAA representative that a lot of companies are asking for up front payment from the customer and giving you a dated receipt to deal with Good Sam on your own. She claimed that there are huge waits for payment and the service providers are not willing to wait any more.

Not sure of the validity of this but more than one person has mentioned it to me recently.
