I am currently using the Camco Taste pure/KDF carbon external water filter and was wondering if it would be any better to have a internal in-line filter. Like the under sink in-line filter with replacement cartridges.
Using the current filter, I don't feel like the campground water taste as pure as it should. Being in the water treatment field I know what good water taste like. I am hoping to achieve a more pure taste at campground "city"water supply.
Just curious as to what kind of filters other people use and any tips are welcome.

I use a Hydro Life filter system and it works great. Portland, Or has some of the best water in the country. We should with all the rain w get! I use the hl 200 model canister with # C2063 cartridge. It is the best I have found yet. 3M makes a unit that is also good but it costs about $300.

I use a home made filter.. PVC pipe

Enterance has a stainless or PVC drain cover, then some filter floss (Fish Isle at Wal*mart) then a bottle of activated charcoal (The plain stuff, not the algae control) then more floss then the other type of drain then the outlet.. The body has male/female connectors so I can replace the non-hardware (Floss/charcoal) makes an amazing difference but here where I'm at now.. NOTHING takes the bleach taste out, the city (Actual city, not park) over chlorinates.

So i fill the tank, let it sit a bit, and then it's good (like 5 minutes)

On the advice of my brother who sells water filtration systems, we got a http://www.amazon.com/Filtrete-Under-Sink-Advanced-Filtration-3US-PS01/dp/B001DVW0PI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1395145773&sr=8-1&keywords=3m+filtrete+3us-ps01 - he says it is the best bang for the buck ($40), and replacement filters are available a lot of places like Home Depot, Lowes, ACE etc. It was an easy install in the cold water line under the kitchen sink. Takes out all the chlorine taste - haven't really had to use it on any water with sulfides yet, but it is supposed to take that smell/taste out also. We also have a cheap in line particulate filter for the whole trailer that we use when the water supply is from a local well, but don't usually bother if the water is from a city water system.

We tried the in-line hose filters with limited results. They are also expensive to use since you are filtering all of the water that you are using in the RV (shower, toilet, sinks, etc.). We ditched that idea since we only needed to filter the water that we drink or make ice with. We bought a 10 cup Brita filter pitcher which works great. The filters last 2 months and are inexpensive in comparison to other options. We use the pitcher for drinks and for our portable counter top ice maker.

we use the basic in-line outdoor filter, any water used for drinking we run it through a Berkey counter top filter, they use them in the peace corps and you can actually filter pond water through it and it will be drinkable. The units are a couple of hundred bucks and the elements last over 5 years.

I bought a whole house Culligan water filter 2 brass nipples ,2 female brass hose ends
Cut o hose to 6 ft. in length for filter outlet . attached inlet from water supply ,
Install carbon sediment filter .
Use a couple of c type conduit hangers to attach to frame .
Whole set up less than 50 bucks .
Replacement carbon filters (every 6 months ) 7 bucks .
Filter housing is suspended from frame with hangers under travel trailer for neat install & removed when we disconnect .
Works for me
