Shower Diverter

I pulled on the diverter so I could take a shower and the handle came off and the inner parts of the diverter fell into the drain. I don't know if I have all the pieces or not. It looks simple but I can't seem to figure it out. So my big body had to sit in the tiny tub. I need a little coaching to fix this problem.

I you referencing the switch on button on the shower handle that moves the water from the tub or to the shower head.

Help us understand, as all shower units a little different.

I would just replace the shower head unit. They don't cost much and are readily available at any RV store.

He has a tub shower and the diverter is in the tub filler thingy.

Depending on the valveing he may be able to replace JUST the diverter assembly or he may have to replace the entire mixing valve.
