Shower questions please advise..

So I don't have much experience in the RV shower department. No leaks is good, not broke don't fix it!

So when we getting ready and checking out the RV before a summer vacations I noticed one of the plastic caps or rivets broken in 1/2. When googling it I noticed the much like a wall molley that one pushes them in forcing the sides to push out in the wall.

So my question now is what makes these water tight? Couldn't water slide down the 1/4" hole and down the wall?

Should one place some silicone around these?

Thanks

I am on the same line of thought process... Just curious of others on what they have done.

A photo would be nice to insure I'm not talking about something else but the answer is basically nothing makes them watertight.

If you wish you can apply a bit of adheasive sealant (GOOP or such) to the mating surfaces but this will make it hard if you ever have to remove it.

Or you could put a small "Gasket" washer under the head.. I have assorted gasket materials here.. Got sheets of 'em at an auto store.
