Slide awning
When parked at my home my slide stays extended out most of the time as we're always going out there to hang out or get some peace and quiet. The trailer is parked partially under a tree which is always dropping things (flowers, seed pods, leaves) on top of the slide which makes it annoying to clean off before we can pull the slide in.
I'm thinking about getting a slide awning but see very few reviews on which seem to be the best and the reviews that are out there are pretty all over the place. It's something I want to have to install just once, not just for the price but also to reduce how many mounting holes I will need to drill into my trailer.
Carefree seems to be the most popular but most websites have them broken down by size and color so each combination is its own product listing which means I have to search through all the different size listings to get any basis of reviews.
Thoughts on any certain brand or model that seems the best or most durable?

We had awning covers installed when we purchased our new trailer last year. It was one of the best decisions that we made. They keep every thing off the slide roof which is great in the fall. on our old trailer i would have to sweep the awning off before we could close them. We have carefree awnings.

Any recommendation on brands? Also, is installation a possible DIY project for a reasonably handy person? I'm close to buying a trailer and have seen a number of posts that recommend them and plan to put them on.

When we bought our new TT it didn't come with a slide awning. I insisted they put one on. I was ok paying for it. Dealer gave me reasons not to (mainly noise from flapping) but I did my homework. I slide topper is a good thing!! It's a no brainer to protect your slide.

I've seen folks shove a kick ball or soccer ball between the roof of the slide and the slide awning to stop the flapping. Jut remember to remove it when sliding in. I wish we had one. (a slide cover, not a kick ball)

I've heard that too, but to date, I haven't heard a boo out of the slide awning. Mine looks pretty taught for flapping
