Slide out adjustment?

New to this forum but have been RVing quite a while. Have a 24' Coachman TT with an 8' slide that closes fine until the last 6 or so inches then I have to "lift" the top front from inside so the gear will mesh. The RBW manual trouble shoot section mentions "nylon hold down pads" might be missing. Looked under slide but couldn't see where these might be. Thanks in advance 8=)

Hi and welcome to the forum. Hopefully (when they all get back from camping this weekend) one of our experts will chime in with some help.

Best of luck...

We also own a Coachmen with a slide out, the rollers and the pads are only accessable from inside the unit, you have to remove the bottom facia, you will need a flashlight to see the pads and rollers. I understand that there is an adjustment for the roller. Hope this will help you. You may be able to get more information from Coachmen under owners information @ www.coachmenrv.com.

Generally, it will be well worth your money to have a professional do the work on the slide. If you get it out of adjustment, you can do serious sidewall damage.

Most use some nylon pads to support the slide as well as nylon rollers. Thes have been known to crack or simply fall out of place.

Ken is right, from personal experience I have determined many RV service personnel do not know how to properly and accurately adjust a slide mechanism. I would not attempt to DIY. If within reason, you might consider visiting the factory service department for a slide adjustment if you cannot locate a competent service technician nearby.
