Slide out question

When camped at a seasonal site - is it ok to leave slide open all season? Or should you open and close occasionally and if so how often? Thanks

When camping at same site all summer we would close slide, when we leave for the week, so it would make trailer more secure.
If someone wants to break in would make for more work for them.

My booklet suggest that you open and close the slide at least once a month. Also raise and lower hydraulic lifts at least once a month.
