Find the thing on line, it's a Lippert product. Then look up the warranty on line. If it's covered call Lippert and have them cover it.

You really don't think it is worth arguing with Northwood about? I guess I just don't see where in reading their warranty they shouldn't be the one to cover it. I bought an Arctic Fox unit. I didn't buy a sofa from Lippert, so have nothing from them on which to base a claim. And I absolutely am not going to pay to ship the thing back and forth to their factory.

Yes, try to get Northwood to cover it. But they might just say it has it's own warranty as it was built by Lippert. Let us know what they say.

I agree Northwood seems to be behind the times as far as design goes. Their trailers don't really look like they've been updated on the inside for several years. Other brands offer more bling for the buck IMO. But I guess that comes with other brands being owned by larger corporations and having better buying power. JMHO but I really doubt anyone would by 80% of the furniture that comes in RV's for their own homes.

For as expensive as they are, Northwood should take care of you.

I would decide what I wanted Northwood to reasonably do about the broken sofa. Then I would call "Matt", head of Northwood Customer Service, at 1-800-Ron-Nash. Having owned 2 Arctic Foxes over a period of 12 years, I found Northwood to ALWAYS be reasonable in dealing with my requests.

Whatever Northwood does, or does not do, I'd just go out and by the sofa that best met my needs. Even if you had a crappy sofa, you have a great trailer!

Bob

I really wish that Northwood and ORV would use other component mfg's besides Lippert. Every time I hear of an issue with a part on these TT's it seems Lippert owns that company. Windows, doors, electronics, stabilizers, furniture, all for sure. That only leaves a few things left and I just haven't looked into them. Soon all the TT's will be Lipperts and they will just buy the body from someone.

I made some progress today. I called the dealer where we bought the trailer. (Niemeyer's in Minnesota) They are a long way from home for me, so hadn't gone through them initially. Tim Niemeyer says he will personally take care of having the sofa fixed at an upolstery shop of my choosing near my home, and will cover anything over and above the $100 that the sofa manufacturer will allow.

That's great customer service from my dealer! But I do still think it stinks that the he may end up biting the bullet on this one. Northwoods written warranty certainly seems to say that they cover it. But they don't want to honor that, and their independant dealer is getting stuck with it.

We'll go ahead and have it fixed if the cost is reasonable. If it ends up being too much will probably just try to replace it. Thanks for all the responses!

Sofa Not Covered By Warranty?

We had a similar problem with the arm of the recliner rocker. My husband took it apart and screwed the wood together to make the repair. The cover slipped back on and it is better than new but we know it is only a matter of time before it breaks on the other side. The northwood rep said there was no warranty but this conversation has inspired me to try to take it a little further. If nothing else the company needs to know how we feel. It is cheap furniture and we will replace it but I think some kind of credit or acknowledgment is due.
