Some Pics of RV Mods/Upgrades I Made

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share with you some things I upgraded and added to my RV.

I added a Watts water filter on the outside of the RV, with garden hose attachment. This allows me to use the cheap residential 10" water filters instead of the Camco ones at extortionate prices. I attached the bracket to the under Frame of the RV and it fit perfectly with butterfly wing nuts to quickly add/release. (Sorry it was too dark to take a pic, maybe tomorrow. )

Then I added a Watts under sink filter. This basically feeds from the main faucet and out through a residential filter faucet (see pics). I had to do some plumbing work and added a STOP control valve for changing the filter cartridge etc. It went pretty well but I was sweating it as I didn't want to screw anything up royally. I screwed the filter cartridge to the wall panel under the sink (again with wing nuts) for easy removal to change filters. As its a standard 10" residential filter I can use the same pre filters as my RO filtration at home and save a lot of money on filters.

I also added undersink soap dispenser. This makes it convenient and simple and no mess with a chance of a soap bottle left on the counter when we drive off.

I also got a voltage monitor by Hughes. This acts as a night light in the washroom as well as allowing me to keep an eye on voltage fluctuations.

Problems:
With the filter cartridge housing you really have to tighten it a lot as (to my horror on my first fill ) it squirted everywhere and I had a quick unexpected shower in the kitchen lol.
No harm done, but this really highlights that I will NEVER leave my RV with ANY pressure in the water lines when I am away from it. It really freaked me out to think what could have happened with a slow leak left alone over a weekend!!!

For this reason I have ordered some leak alarms off eBay just to give me some sort of alert that there is a leak. Hope and pray they never need to go off!!

Talking about showers, I upgraded the standard shower head to the Oxygenics shower head. Big improvement with pressure and usability. I woukd recommend this upgrade.

I also added an Odroid c1+ to my TV as we never watch regular TV channels. We rather create our own lists to watch. So now we will be able to save any shows and movies on to a Micro SD card and watch anytime we want to.

I'll tell you about some more mods another time but here are the pics.

Hope that made sense and hope it helps someone make a decision to modify their RV to how they want it.

It looks like the voltage monitor is for the AC side only. What will you use to monitor the DC side, which is more important to feed well and keep healthy?

The Camco hose filters are more expensive, but if one ruptures or leaks, the leak is *outside*, so I see it as a small amount of insurance when hooked up to water. I'd rather freeze a Camco filter by accident than one of the big cans.

Do you have water pressure regulated somehow?

You're gonna have so much fun. I know you already are!

Not sure if I explained right but I do have two filters. One is outside to filter ALL water into the RV.

The second is undersink and has a smaller micron value and cleans the water further for drinking purposes.

I have a pressure regulator too. Not used yet as I'm at home and filled the water tank manually using a hose etc.

I also have the Hughes Autoformer surge and voltage regulator which I will show you after install.

Fun?? I'm bloody addicted. It's like Crack to me lol. Loving life and loving this new RV scene.

To monitor the DC side I will look into this .. thank you .. this slipped my mind.

I only just got a camco filter for my trailer. Haven't been using anything. I guess we're blessed in Oregon with good water. Are they expensive? I ordered from amazon. Didn't seem spendy to me.

I'm reluctant to drill into anything while it's still under warranty. I'll wait till that expires just to be safe. Though I like the idea of the soap dispenser.

I don't allow the kids to watch tv if the weather is nice. They need to be outside playing. But if it's going to rain I bring the roku which works well. After we're all tired of playing board games.

Didn't think much about changing the shower head. We don't shower in the trailer often. Only if we have hookups and we're going to be there for awhile.
Our first trailer we were pretty excited about but after a year we learned a lot about things we didn't think we'd care about and ended up selling it and bought a second trailer. Stay away from RV shows! You'll be buying a new one every year!

Most folks take the power from their taillights circuit. Need the camera? Turn on the taillights. Done with the camera? Turn off the taillights.

Good stuff. The Oxygenics is absolutely necessary, IMO. What a difference that makes! I also like the hand soap sink mount. I'm going to have to pick one of those up myself.

The mods and upgrades never end!
