Spread axle tire wear?

To those that have a trailer with spread axles,,, do you notice any extra wear on tires ? I'm sure they pull more stable,,, being a truck driver, but also wonder about tire scrub and sidewall deflection... ??? Thanks, Monkey

I no longer have a trailer, but the new spread axle design makes maintaining sidewall maximum air pressure of utmost importance (ST tire mfgrs, recommend this anyway). With the older regular spread tandem axles I've seen a guy making a spot turn roll a tire off the rim on hot blacktop.

I had a Heartland North Trail with the Wide Traxx axles. Towed like a POS. The only reason for the wide spacing is so they can have low tongue weights for marketing. What they're doing is basically spreading the trailer weight out further. Moving the axles closer to the center of the TT to get lower tongue weights. That lets them advertise that certain TT's can be towed with smaller vehicles. If it was all they make it out be then why are so few building TT's with it? It cost exactly the same to build TT's either way.
