Squeaky Floor

I have a 2014 Starcraft 294RESA with a very creaky floor under a carpeted area. Dealer can fix but would have to cut rug to repair and then repair the cut and lay back down. I'm inclined to live with the creaking for fear the carpet cuts will be visible. No charge for repair (Starcraft is covering). Going at it from underneath is too involved I'm told, so that's out. Any opinions on what to do?

The repair a squeaky floor is to fasten the underlaying floor more securely. While the treatment offered by the dealer will work, as you said it depends on repair of the carpet too. Suggestion: How about rolling the carpet up from the squeaky area, screwing the floor down, the re-stretching the carpet back down? Often tack strips along the edges allow this type of repair. The only issue would be if the carpet is glued down. Another treatment for squeaky floors in a home is to use special screws that go through the carpet to tighten floor, then the head snaps off, hiding the fastener under the carpet.

carpet

ask the dealer if they will be using a carpet installer to cut and then fix the carpet. if so you'll never find it.

I am wondering if humidy has anything to do with the squeaking? If not, I would have it fixed as it is probably driving you crazier.

Can you access the area from under the trailer?
Might just be able to shim it slightly to take the deflection out of the floor.

Well, they fixed the worst squeaking part by lifting carpet and putting in 50 fasteners. The kitchen area still has squeaks, but it's bearable. Starcraft may pay to fix the kitchen area, but it will mean a new linoleum floor and the increased chance of scratches, nicks and dents incidental to the repair. How much squeaking is too much? That's what I have to decide. Anyone else have squeaky floors?
