Structural Changes

I'm wanting to make a structural change to my tt. The bed is too short. A friend gave me a full length queen mattress, but the bedroom isn't big enough for it. I'd like to build a 9" bump out on the front of the tt so the bed could move forward that much. This "bump out" (I don't know a better thing to call it) would be 60"x60". I believe it should be possible to do this. I was wondering if anyone had ever heard of anyone doing such a remodel, or if there was a forum here or a website that might be good for information about doing something like this.

Wouldn't it be a lot easier to bump into the trailer? Maybe move an interior wall?
I don't see how punching through the front of the trailer will work well.

I guess you can do it, but not sure you'll have enough frame on the front to do so?

As long as you take off the skin, build structure, and reskin and reseal, I guess it's possible.

The interior wall that would be involved would affect the size of the bathroom, no room to spare there.

This would surely be an interesting modification--waiting to see how it comes out.

But...it might be a lot simpler to use the current unit as a trade/sale and apply to one that has the correct bed size?

Me thinks it would be much less expensive, (as well as easier/simpler), to buy a new mattress to fit the TT.... rather than modifying the TT to fit a free mattress!

Making serious major mods to a TT can have large impacts at the time of resale.

I wanted the longer matress, because at 6'2" the short queen isn't long enough. The free matress was a bonus.

Just about anything is possible, but there are many things that aren't advisable. Unless you are really good at doing this type of work, or are willing to pay someone who is capable of doing a professional job, I certainly wouldn't recommend doing it.

There are two six volt batteries directly in front of the wall, in front of them are the propane tanks. There's a good four inches between the battery boxes and the wall, if I change the orientation of the battery boxes I can get the space I need.

I don't get how your going to attempt this or how it look I would take others advice and trade it in or sell on your own and buy something to your needs what's year make and model of your tt

Trailer is a 2006 Springdale (by Keystone) 25'.

The main thing I see is without replacing all the siding (assuming this a metal sided trailer), you will have an ugly seam and only 4" of siding in front of the seam.
