I have a 30 trailer with tandem axles being setup on a permanent site - likely will move maybe once a year. Looking at how best to set it up and stabilize it.

I see the wheel chocks that jam between the dual tires. Are these effective at reducing some of the motion inside the trailer? Any downside to them?

Other thoughts on how to nest setup for this scenario? The trailer has stabilizer jacks on the four corners.

If you are not planning on taking it anywhere, I would suggest jacking it up off the wheels and secure with blocks. Don't bother with the stabilizers IMO, they don't really keep the trailer from swaying.

Unfortunately can't remove the wheels due to rules/restrictions of where its at.

Sorry, I wasn't suggesting removing the wheels, just raising the trailer so that the wheels are lifted off the ground.

To elaborate on stabilizers, the ones I've seen are pretty chintzy and cannot support the weight of the trailer, so you will always have trailer movement when you are moving around inside. I'm not sold on the wheel stabilizers at all.

You would need to remove the flex that comes through the suspension (springs and tires). The OEM stabilizers are usually not strong enough to lift the chassis off the springs as much as needed to stop any wiggle, but can be used with a set of jack stands.

Mobilehome movers/installers use adjustable jack stands on the chassis frame. And, they often use a footing under the jacks to prevent from sinking into the soil.

It is not too hard to do, just requires enough jacks to stop the bounce that comes from the suspension.

I misunderstood. The idea of getting it off the tires/suspension sounds good. Need an appropriate jack, jack stands, etc. the trailer is 400 mikes from my workshops where all this equipment is.

4 ton bottle jack at Harbor Freight for $18, 2 of these and some block and you are good to go! do one end at a time, may even be able to lift the front with your tongue jack.

Today I redid the setup and leveling of the trailer correctly after reading the owners manual. It's much more stable than before. So much for the 'professional delivery and setup' that was provided by the dealer.

On a next trip to the trailer I will bring the equipment and jacks stands and do as suggested here. Many thanks!
