The Smell of Black
2014 Cherokee Grey Wolf TT 29ft
Under the pantry I have this access panel, it's the inside of the where the water comes in and the pump and hoses, see pic. I have the phone/net/sat coming in there.
I have this smell of the black tank coming from this area and I would like to be rid of it.
This is the first TT I have owned, it is not an old TT, so what gives?
The foam around the hoses on the floor seems to be firm and tight.
The TT is currently occupied 12-15 days a month and it takes a long time for the black tank to fill up, so I feel like stuff sits in that tank a while.
Any advise appreciated.

I assume the picture rotated 90 degrees when you posted it , I'd think you need to figure out where in relation to the stain on the floor the waste tanks are located, or if any plumbing is leaking to cause that stain , that comes out from the what would be the left side towards the spray foam sealant.

Couldn't circle the stain and post it in my other post .
This is the stain I'm asking about, yellow circle.
What's the other side of that wall?

Ya, the pic posted sideways, sorry.
I didn't notice the black until I was posting the pic.
To the Left of that black stain is double bunk beds and outside storage.
Also to note, I have a flush the black tank connection and when I hose up to that and fill for rinse, there are leaks underneath, but the blk tank does fill for rinsing.
I have been using chems in the Blk tank yes.
thanks for your help.

If your black tank flush system is leaking water out , then tank fumes can get out too. You need to track that water leak down and repair it.

Thank You. Sound good.
However, the underside is sealed off with a plastic like material, there doesn't seemed to be any access.

When there is no access provided for you, (and if it's important/necessary for you to gain access), you have to do whatever it takes to make your own.

There was none provided on mine either.
There was access provided for the slide motors. I opened those ports and looked for the black tank. Using that and where the pipes come out for the dump valve I guess where the black tank was.
I used a box knife to cut an access panel so I can get to the black tank.
In order to reseal the belly I put backer strip and screwed along the seam. Hint: try to put the hinged side of your access port facing forward.

What's a backer strip?

The Smell of Black
Any sort of plastic strip 1-2" wide. I used it to re-join both sides of the underbelly material where I cut it.
I screwed/mounted it to one side of the seam and left the other half of the width exposed. I then closed up the access panel and screwed it to the backing strip.
Note I mounted the backer strip so that it is inside the underbelly. I used short wood screws every couple inches. Easy work with a drill driver. I wanted to make it so that I could open it up again in the future if necessary.
If you have to open the panel just unscrew one side. ;-)
