Towing behind a TT

Just wondering if anyone tows there fishing boat behind their TT. Is it legal and did you have to modify the bumper? I've been taking a separate vehicle that the wife drives but only to local areas. Would like to go a further distance and only take one and the boat or a MC trailer.

Check your state laws, most states you can double tow behind a fifth wheel, but not behind a TT.

Bumper? You mean a hitch receptacle right?

If properly install it would work but towing behind a TT is illegal in most state (Calif for sure). I've seen semi-trucks here in Oregon that are 2x (two trailers) but they are commercial so not sure about that.

I wonder if the type of hitch would make a difference. since the hensley abd pro pride move the projection over the rear wheels making it more stable would be as good as a fifth wheel when towing a second trailer.....

OP, in TN you can have a triple tow as long as total length is under 65ft.

However, just because it's legal in your home state doesn't mean it is anywhere else. You have to comply with the laws of each and every state you're in at the time.

Triple tow??? The OP only has a TT he is towing plus he wants to pull a boat behind the trailer. Where is the triple tow vehicle?

Don't you mean double tow? I'm confused.

By terms of a triple tow is 3 vehicles. TV + Trailer + boat/trailer.

Near impossible to keep it under 65'

Time for a Class B or C motorhome.

Guess my main concern would be the rear bumper on the TT being able to support the hitch and what I connect to it, i.e., boat or utility tlr with a couple of 600 lb MC's.

Back in the 70's I pulled a 17' Ranger Bass boat behind the 22' TT I had at the time.
It was good up to 55 MPH. Over that you could check the tires on the boat trailer one side at a time with the rear view mirrors.

Still confused. You're not towing the TV...so how are you triple towing. This terminology just doesn't make sense. By definition, triple tow says your are "towing" 3 vehicles.

A simple Helpful hint to the OP,,, IF you choose to pull doubles,,, a TT and a boat behind,,, be VERY Careful and keep the speed down... In my buisness, (pulling double freight trailers), we call it "cracking the whip" . Whatever you do with the steering wheel is magnified MANY times with the back trailer... 1 inch on the steering wheel could easily make 2-3 Feet or more of sway on the rear trailer... Not trying to scare you, just remember its back there, and you can Not dodge things in the road like you might with one trailer... As others have said, check the state laws.
